The Correct Answer is BAt present there is no approved treatment for Raynaud’s disease. However, patients with this disorder reportedly experience subjective symptomatic improvement with calcium channel antagonists. Nifedipine (Procardia XL) is the calcium channel blocker of choice in patients with Raynaud’s disease is as/is a more peripheroly vasodilator than many other calcuim channel blockers. blockers can produce arterial insufficiency of the Raynaud type, so propanolol (Inderal) and atenolol (Tenormin) would be contraindicated. Drugs such as ergotamine preparations cafergot and methysergide (Sansert) can produce cold sensitivity, and should therefore be avoided in patients with Raynaud’s disease. Alcohol is not recommended for nine year olds, even those with cold fingers at Texas football games.
