At least 50% of patients followed for up to 15 years have complete remission of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and 70% regain normal function. Systemic-onset disease is accompanied by high fever, rheumatoid rash, polyarthritis, and other systemic manifestations. A few patients are left with crippling joint deformities, but 75% have no significant residual deformity.
