The Correct Answer is C

Lids and Nasolacrimal System: Clinical ProceduresCongenital dacrostenosis (obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct) is a common condition. Excessive tearing is the most common symptom and is usually noticed between 2 and 6 weeks of age. Since infants do not produce reactive tears until that time, it is not detectable immediately after birth.

This condition usually improves spontaneously, and probing of the duct by an ophthalmologist is usually delayed until 12 months of age. Most physicians recommend massaging the lacrimal sac to attempt to force open the duct.

Topical antibiotic eyedrops should be reserved for episodes of conjunctivitis or the development of a frankly purulent discharge.
