Laboratory Reference Range

This is a common method of setting laboratory reference ranges. The result is that approximately 5% of healthy individuals will measure outside the reference range on any given test. Or, if 20 tests are performed on a healthy subject, the results of one of these tests will likely fall outside the reference range.
