A Pityriasis Rosea is a rash, which starts first as one patch (known as the herald patch) on the trunk. It is oval and pink and often has a rim of scaling just inside the pink edge. One or 2 weeks later many more similar smaller oval patches appear, again mainly on the trunk but they may extend on to the thighs, upper arms and neck in a Victorian bathing suit distribution.
