Cholangiocarcinoma (adenocarcinoma)
- Tumors of the biliary ducts
- Unassociated with chronic liver disease and cirrhosis;
- arise most commonly in hilum at the confluence of the hepatic ducts (Klatskin tumor) but can arise peripherally
- Generally show moderate to severe cytologic atypia and desmoplastic stroma
- Can metastasize via either hematogenous or lymphangitic routes
